Runa is a hot startup based in Mountain View, CA, disrupting the e-commerce space by harnessing big data, machine learning, predictive modeling, and real-time personalized deals. Instead of giving away discounts and promotions to everyone who comes to an e-commerce site, merchants use Runa to target Smart Deals at the right shoppers. The system automatically figures out who to make offers to, selects the right products for the offers, and optimizes the deal itself to maximize purchases and profit. Runa is nearly all Clojure, and employs 20 engineers across the bay area and Bangalore, including some well known Clojurians.
